The KKK, The DUP, And The Trumpian Toxicity Of Brexit

AN SIONNACH FIONN

Not everyone who votes for the DUP dresses up in KKK clothing and poses with clenched fists outside an Islamic Prayer Centre. But everyone who dresses up in KKK clothing and poses with clenched fists outside an Islamic Prayer Centre probably votes for the DUP. That is the main thing to bear in mind following the weekend appearance of men garbed as members of the Ku Klux Klan, the pariah white-nationalist organisation in the United States, in the town of Newtownards, an electoral stronghold of the hard-right Democratic Unionist Party. The incident, where the group was denied drinks in a local bar before posting pictures of themselves on social media, has been condemned across the political spectrum. This includes strong words of outrage from the local DUP MLA, Peter Weir (who of course terminated Irish education funding while serving as a regional minister in the now collapsed peace-brokered executive at…

Let’s face it. We really must be a nonentity. We have no identity, and all of things we thought were important milestones for our country, that we didn’t hear about in history at school (because we were too busy hearing about the Normans, Henry the 8th’s 16th century supply of ye olde viagra and his axe grinding fetish, the horrendous slaughter of the First World War, and Winston Churchill) turned out to be untrue. or mainly just minor non-events.

The latest revelation from the unionist media, falling over themselves to tell us, now that there’s a new fillum coming oot, that apparently Robert Bruce, who I always thought had a bit of a French background but was fae roon aboot Ayrshire (I think I read that somewhere) actually was an Essex boy, and was famed for opening restaurants in every city, town or hamlet his forces captured, a man with…

Britain’s counterinsurgency campaign from the 1970s to the early 2000s to control or curtail cross-border traffic into the occupied territory through the demolition of bridges, the cratering of roads, the construction of concrete barriers or the erection of fortified checkpoints, along with the deployment of 30,000 soldiers and police officers at the height of the ensuing conflict, turned the partition boundary into the most heavily militarised frontier in Europe, rivalling – and outlasting – the “Iron Curtain” between the member states of NATO and the Warsaw Pact.

The British TV broadcast from the 1970s…

MUNGUIN'S NEW REPUBLIC

A lot of news today about the Larysa Switlyk character going shooting in Scotland and killing sheep and goats.

Only minutes before that beautiful tup was eating grass, and for pleasure this thing killed him.

Probably most Munguin readers find that as disgusting and Munguin and I do. A sheep for goodness sake? Why?

What kind of person would do that?

As was reported in comments on the last article, Mike Russel has contacted the minister responsible (Roseanna Cunningham), so at least something is happening. Whether or not it can be stopped, who knows?

In the meantime, we should remember that the Brit royals, the Saxe-Coburg Gotha (call us Windsor, because there’s surely nothing more English than Windsor) set us an example as they continue to kill animals where and whenever they get a chance. And it goes on to the next generation despite our being assured that the royals…
